Book Cover: Defying Doomsday

Client: Twelfth Planet Press

Brief: Create a wraparound book cover for the Defying Doomsday anthology, for softcover, hardcover and ebook formats. Defying Doomsday is a collection of speculative fiction stories with disabled protagonists. The cover had to suggest a post-apocalyptic environment, but hint at hope.

I’ve seen several post-apocalyptic paintings use desert reds or grimy grey-browns, and I wanted a more distinct approach colour-wise – hence the bright moonlit night.
